I'd consider HailUte signage on my uteReduced commission while signage is displayed and in good condition. Not guaranteed — it depends on your vehicle's model, body shape and condition, and we approve each one individually. If you're approved, you'll upload a photo of the fitted decals and the reduced rate starts from then. Remove the signage and the standard rate resumes.

HailUte takes 16.5% of the fare, ex-GST — one flat rate, gear offers included. The Smudgy and Muddy surcharges are commission-free.

WHAT YOU NEED

Your own ABN, GST registration, and to be the registered owner of the ute — standard for driving under HailUte. Queensland drivers also need Driver Authorisation (TMR) and a Booked Hire Service Licence for the vehicle; we email you the links the moment you register.

On GSTRide-sourcing counts as taxi travel, so you register for GST from your first trip — the $75,000 threshold doesn't apply. You remit 1/11th of the total fare and claim the GST back on our commission. We issue your tax invoices and a quarterly summary so your BAS is a ten-minute job, not a weekend. Worth a word with your accountant before you start.

Choosing a ute? Ones with lower running costs — like plug-in hybrids — generally keep more of what you earn. Worth factoring in, not a promise of what you'll make.
